A planner built by the agency that needed it

Why it exists

For a long time our staffing plan was a Google Sheet: one tab per person, a column per week. It stopped being fine somewhere on the way to 20 people. We could not see who was double-booked until the week had started, could not answer "who is free in three weeks" without scrolling sideways, and found out about vacations colliding with releases from the people already in them.

We trialled the planners on the market and found them priced for companies much larger than ours, so we built one in bench time, by the developers it now schedules. We have run Peppernode on it for two years. The longer version of that story is on the blog.

Every feature came from a problem we hit ourselves, and the pricing is what we wanted to pay when we were the ones shopping: free for up to 5 people, €3 per user per month after that. Nothing on this site is speculative; the screenshots come from a demo workspace with invented names because our real clients' names are our clients' business.
